Benjamin died of injuries from a 2009 shooting on May 28, 2022. He was 44 years old. His death was ruled a homicide on Dec. 28, 2023. According to Baltimore Police, on the evening of Jan. 9, 2009, officers called to the 200 block of Maude Avenue found Benjamin with numerous life-threatening gunshot wounds that hospitalized him for the rest of his life.
