On Nov. 1, 2023, Baltimore Police were called to the 600 block of North Decker Street for a report that Edwards was missing. Evidence led homicide detectives to take over the investigation. Just over a month later, on Dec. 9, a body was pulled from water in the northern New Jersey town of Secaucus. Authorities in New Jersey identified the body as Edwards', ruled his death a homicide by shooting and contacted Baltimore Police.
