Collins' son is accused of setting himself on fire, then jumping onto his mother, causing her to catch fire. She died on Sept. 1, 2011 as a result of complications from her injuries. On Jan. 12, 2012, the state medical examiner ruled her death a homicide, and notified police on this date.
